Is it possible to generate solar power in space for use here on Earth?
In our first ever episode of Local Zero, Fraser asked the panel whether they thought that space-based solar panels were the future, or the stuff of fantasy. Well it turned out they were… The Future!
That’s right, various scientists, governments and tech groups around the world have trialled and commissioned technologies that would allow for solar power generated in space to be transferred for use on Earth. Although in its infancy, the concept has been successfully demonstrated on a small-scale, with serious developments underway.
